About this role

Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as Technical Policy Writer. In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that make a difference for our country.

The Technical Policy Writer researchs, outlines, writes, and edits new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements, develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, and maintains a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in drafting and developing, then updates technology policies in collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with Federal, Departmental, and Other Government Agencies
  • Supports government leads on a minimum of six policies to be endorsed by leadership per year with major updates.
  • Conducts 12 independent Program Management Review (PMR) briefings each year on the status of select policies to occur once per month.
  • Provides user support and subject matter expertise on the existing technology policy portfolio.
  • Reviews and facilitates the collection of comments on proposed Legislative statutes, Executive Orders, OGA policies and programs, and policy collaboration from relevant personnel.
  • Independently gathers information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  • Works with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, and revise, edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
  • Researches, creates, and maintains information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allows for easy data migration.
  • Ensures that documents follow the style laid out in the organization’s style guide. May also be responsible for maintaining the style guide. Suggests revisions to the style guide as appropriate.
  • Creates and executes project plans, communication plans, and refined communications products for overall technology governance.
  • Manages administrative and logistical duties for multi-division working groups where OCIO leads and supports throughout the enterprise and report back to senior leadership.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or English with five (5) years of experience in a similar position with a large Federal organization.
  • Communications strategy and execution experience.
  • Process development and improvement experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to collaborate across organizations, technical acumen and the ability to translate technical language for a non-technical audience
  • Polished presentation skills using multiple methods of delivery (in person, electronic and digital)
  • Experience performing user research and synthesis.
  • Ability to work onsite in DC five days a week, and hold an ongoing Active Top Secret Clearance
