Key Responsibilities
- Design turbomachinery components for a high performance liquid rocket engine
- Perform 1-D sizing and detailed flowpath design for liquid inducers, stators, and impellers, as well as hot gas turbine rotors and stators
- Perform sizing and detailed design of secondary fluid flowpaths for bearings, seals, and coolant paths
- Perform detailed structural analysis of turbomachinery components
- Work with design and build teams to ensure hardware is highly manufacturable, low cost, and high reliability
- Work with build and test teams to ensure success of turbopump manufacturing and testing
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- 3+ years' of relevant turbomachinery experience
- Proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
- Demonstrated experience with fluids and structural analysis software
- Demonstrated experience with CAD to design hardware
- Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices
- Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits and clearance checks
- Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in small team
Benefits
- Master’s degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications
- Strong proficiency in fluids modeling of compressible and incompressible flow
- Experience in manufacturing and test of stationary and rotating turbomachinery components
- Experience with turbopump bearings, seals, and assembly processes
- Experience performing turbomachinery analyses (bladed CFD, structural, modal, rotordynamics)
- Experience designing bladed turbopump components (inducers, impellers, turbines)
- Experience in manufacturing of stationary and rotating turbomachinery components
- Familiarity with turbomachinery rotor-dynamic analysis and considerations
Additional Requirements:
- Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
