Responsibilities:
- Teach students to read and write in Spanish.
- Provide the instructional program for students to reflect the goals of a Dual-Language Program.
- Ensure consistent discipline practices and integration with the classroom instruction.
- Participate in the monthly RTI (Response to Intervention) meeting for assigned grade levels.
- Meet weekly with grade-level classroom teachers to support parallel skills in two languages.
- Assist with standardized test administration or translation as requested by Head of School.
- Communicate with parents to ensure a cooperative family partnership in accord with the school's mission and to increase student achievement.
- Participate in and adopt school-based professional learning, innovations and technology advances.
- Invest in personal and professional development through on-going training in accord with an approved professional development plan.
- Provide letters of reference for high school admissions process (grade 8 students) as requested.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or appropriate content subject area or Emergency License
- 3 years' experience preferred
- Massachusetts Certification in Foreign Language Instruction at the levels matching position openings
- Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
- Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred
- Support the two-way language goals of the school.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member of the grade-level staff and school community
- Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Demonstrated interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
Schedule: Full-Time, School-Year Position
