Overview
The Editorial Intern will work alongside the Zonderkidz, DaySpring Kids, and Blink team to play a key role in helping steward children’s and young adult book projects at various stages of the publishing pipeline. They will assist with book-related research, editing book content, preparing title information forms for internal reference, proofreading typeset content, providing input on prospective future projects, and engaging in other tasks as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Become familiar with the Zonderkidz, DaySpring Kids, and Blink production processes
- Become familiar with the The Chicago Manual of Style and The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style
- Learn the various types of children’s books (e.g., board books, picture books, middle grade, young adult), common typesettings and layouts, and common ancillary features
- Learn and practice the various kinds of editorial work, including content editing, copyediting, content proofreading, and typesetting proofreading
- Prepare title information forms for internal use and assist with book-related research
- Provide input on prospective manuscripts and projects
- Attend team meetings, editorial boards, title alignment meetings, and production meetings
Qualifications
- Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
- Candidates must be available to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.

- Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
- Candidates should be competent in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
- Candidates should possess a strong knowledge of the English language and grammar
- Candidates should have strong project management and organizational skills and be able to work independently
- Candidates with copyediting and proofreading experience are preferred
- A passion for books is highly valued!
