The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in financial reporting, accounting operations, and guiding the finance team in their professional development. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee preparation of financial statements, including quarterly board meeting financials and coordination of annual audit as primary contact with external auditor.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies while maintaining a streamlined accounting process.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and present findings to management.
- Implement process improvements and the adoption of new accounting systems and technologies.
- Mentor and support accounting staff, offering guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in public accounting.
- CPA is preferred.
- Managerial experience preferred
- Insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Power BI).
