We are seeking a flexible, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Emergency Department as an Administration Officer. This is a casual position. The successful candidate must be available to work a range of shifts including those listed below - as well as weekends and peak holiday periods.


Shift Times
• 05:00–13:00
• 08:00–17:00
• 13:00–21:00
• 17:00–01:00


Working in our fast-paced, high-pressure Emergency Department, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate admission, discharge and billing of patients, often while managing competing priorities and responding to rapidly changing demands. Outside of main reception operating hours, you will also be the first point of contact for patient and visitor enquiries, providing professional, compassionate and efficient customer service while managing a high volume of enquiries in a busy clinical environment.

About You

The role requires someone who can remain calm, organised and resilient in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. 

You will also bring the following:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of staff - both clinical and administrative
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is not essential but highly desirable 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong computer literacy - the ability to navigate multiple IT systems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Experience with hospital patient administration systems or private practice software (desirable)
  • Understanding of private health insurance and patient billing (desirable)

Remuneration: On offer for this position is an hourly rate of $34.61 - $36.49 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties and allowances.

Additional Information

  • Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months.
  • According to the role, Ramsay may require proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
