About this role
We are DEUS EX MACHINA, a cutting-edge bioinformatics company specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Analytics. We leverage Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) alongside physics, bioinformatics, and ML in hybrid solutions that accelerate the analysis of food and biological data, contributing to life sciences with breakthroughs in nutrition, healthcare and petcare. At the core of our successful track record are our people, our commitment to clients, Fortune 100 organizations and startups, and our desire to make a positive impact through a creative, focused, and collaborative mindset.
We are currently seeking an Agentic AI Solutions Engineer to build, integrate, and operationalize AI agents across our company and our products. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone fluent in the modern agentic stack: LLMs, tool use, retrieval, orchestration, structured outputs, evaluation, and production integration. The field moves quickly and the tooling turns over often, so we want someone who stays current on what is actually working in practice.
You will work with product, engineering, data science, and domain experts to find high-value workflows, prototype agentic solutions, integrate them into live systems, and harden experimental capabilities into reliable product and operational infrastructure.
What your daily life will look like:
- Design, build, and deploy autonomous agentic workflows for internal operations as well as customer-facing products.
- Integrate LLMs with our systems: APIs, databases, document stores, internal tools, and product interfaces.
- Build autonomous agents that plan, retrieve information, call tools, execute workflows, and return structured, auditable outputs.
- Prototype fast while keeping reliability, observability, security, latency, and cost in view.
- Develop reusable components for orchestration, prompting, tool calling, memory, retrieval, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Translate ambiguous workflow needs into working systems alongside product and domain experts.
- Measure model behavior: failure modes, hallucination risk, latency, cost, and the quality tradeoffs between them.
- Contribute to internal standards for safe, useful, and measurable deployment of agentic systems.
What your strengths are:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience (3-6 years) building software solutions and/or working with AI and Machine Learning technologies.
- Strong programming ability in Python.
- Solid grounding in machine learning: how models are trained and evaluated, how embeddings behave, where models break, and how to measure quality with statistical rigor. You can reason about why a model behaves the way it does and design experiments to confirm it.
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source models.
- Fluency with agentic patterns: tool and function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, memory, planning, and orchestration. Frameworks such as LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, and MCP are useful illustrations of these patterns. We care that you understand the patterns themselves more than which specific framework you have used.
- Ability to connect AI systems to real tools: APIs, databases, web services, document stores, and internal applications.
- Comfort with embeddings, vector stores, structured outputs, and evaluation loops.
- Sound product judgment: you can tell a flashy demo from something that solves a real business problem.
- Clear communication across technical and non-technical teams, and a habit of learning by shipping, testing, measuring, and improving.
Nice to Have:
- Production experience deploying AI systems at scale.
- Experience fine-tuning or rigorously evaluating models, beyond prompting alone.
- Programming experience in TypeScript.
- Workflow automation, CRM or ERP integration, or experience with Slack, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365.
- Cloud platforms such as Azure, plus Docker, CI/CD, logging, and observability.
- Multi-agent systems, planning agents, human-in-the-loop workflows, or AI evaluation frameworks.
- Background in biology, healthcare, scientific computing, enterprise software, or data products.
- Open-source contributions to AI or agentic tooling, technical writing, demos, or projects we can look at.
What Success Looks Like:
- First 30 days: you understand our products, data flows, internal workflows, and current AI opportunities, and you ship at least one useful prototype.
- First 90 days: you have built or integrated several agentic workflows that internal teams actively use or that feed product development.
- Beyond that: you become one of the people who shapes how we use AI agents responsibly and effectively across the company.
Who You Are:
- You think in terms of models, tools, context, workflows, and feedback loops, and you are comfortable building the playbook as you go rather than waiting for one.
- You are pragmatic about production AI. You know it takes engineering discipline: evaluation, observability, security, and honest judgment about where automation earns its place and where a human belongs in the loop.
- You are at ease with ambiguity and you resolve it by turning rough ideas into working systems.
What it’s like to work with us:
DEUS EX MACHINA will provide you with resources and advanced tools necessary to deliver best-in-class results for our clients, in a workplace that inspires collaboration and creativity. Our people are the most important asset and we always strive for providing them with a good working-life balance. What to expect working at DEUS:
