About this role
About Glow
At Glow, we believe in protecting the dreams of small businesses.
We're building the smartest insurance platform for small businesses — combining real human expertise with AI-powered technology to make insurance simple, transparent, and proactive. Behind every small business is someone who took a risk to build something better. Glow ensures they're protected — so they can grow with confidence and without limits.
We've raised $24M in Series A funding from world-class investors to power that mission.
The Problem We're Solving
Jane runs a 20-person restaurant. She's busy managing staff, customers, rising costs, and compliance requirements. Insurance is something she only thinks about when something goes wrong.
Glow exists to change that.
We're building the insurance platform for small businesses—helping owners get the right coverage, better pricing, and proactive support before problems become expensive surprises.
AI is at the center of that mission.
What You'll Build
This isn't a chatbot role.
You'll build AI systems that directly impact how small businesses manage risk and insurance:
Insurance is a high-stakes, information-dense domain where AI can create meaningful leverage. The systems you build will have real-world consequences and measurable impact.
What You'll Do
You'll own products and features end-to-end - from identifying the problem to shipping the solution and measuring results.
Product Ownership
- Work directly with users, teammates, and stakeholders to understand problems deeply.
- Turn ambiguity into clear plans, product requirements, and execution.
- Own outcomes, not just implementation.
- Design and integrate LLM-powered workflows using prompts, tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, and agent architectures.
- Build systems that are reliable, measurable, and production-ready.
- Improve prompts, evaluations, context management, and agent tooling across the company.
- Build production software using:
- Node.js
- React & TypeScript
- GraphQL
- PostgreSQL
- AWS
- Temporal
- Monitor what you ship.
- Measure user and business outcomes.
- Debug, improve, and continuously refine systems after launch.

Ship Across the Stack
No layer of the stack is off-limits.
Validate & Iterate
Use AI as a Force Multiplier
Claude Code, Cursor, and agentic development tools are core parts of our workflow.
You'll use them heavily—but you'll also know when they're wrong.
The job isn't writing every line yourself. The job is exercising the judgment to identify edge cases, flawed assumptions, security risks, and incorrect implementations before they reach production.
Who We're Looking For
We care less about years of experience and more about ownership, judgment, and execution.
You should have:
- 1–3 years of software engineering experience (exceptional candidates outside this range are encouraged to apply).
- A track record of shipping real products or features end-to-end.
- Daily hands-on use of Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI development tools.
- Experience building with LLM APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or equivalent.
- Experience shipping at least one AI feature involving tool use, structured outputs, RAG, or agent workflows.
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and React/TypeScript.
- Working knowledge of GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Strong product instincts and customer empathy.
- Excellent technical judgment and attention to detail.
- A bias toward action and ownership.
- Low ego, high EQ, and a collaborative mindset.
A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree is preferred, but demonstrated ability and a strong shipping record matter more than credentials.
