Analyst, Strategy & New Ventures
AI Summary
Builds customer-facing tools and prototypes across AI, analytics, and baseball/softball insights; queries data, constructs financial models, and iterates concepts into working demos for shipping.
About this role
Trackman Diamond Sports (TMDS) is seeking an Analyst for its newly formed Strategy & New Ventures group. This is a new position and will report to the Director, Strategy & New Ventures. The group operates as a small, fast-moving build team inside TMDS, responsible for turning ideas into working products and capabilities that reach customers. Its charter spans new customer-facing offerings across AI, analytics and insights, education, as well as internal tools that make the business faster and smarter.
The Analyst will spend the majority of their time building. That means prototyping concepts, standing up working tools, testing them with real users and iterating toward something TMDS can ship and support. Analysis and business cases are part of the job, but they exist to inform what gets built, not to sit as recommendations. Good candidates will be baseball and softball obsessives who are strong in querying and modeling data, capable of getting a prototype in front of people quickly, and comfortable operating with limited structure on problems that do not yet have a defined answer.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Prototype and build customer-facing tools, products and capabilities across AI, analytics and insights, moving from concept to working demo quickly
Test prototypes with real users and customers, gather feedback and iterate toward something TMDS can ship and support
Build internal tools, automations and workflows that make TMDS teams faster and more efficient
Query, organize and analyze TMDS data to answer open questions and shape what the group builds next
Build financial and operating models to size, price and evaluate new opportunities, including new business models and partnership structures
Build baseball and softball models, applying sabermetric concepts and player performance data to support new product concepts and inform what the group builds
Develop business cases and recommendations for leadership on where TMDS should invest, expand or exit
Create and maintain visualizations, dashboards and KPI reporting to measure adoption and performance of what the group ships
Support partnership evaluation and diligence with third-party organizations across the baseball and softball landscape
Monitor and report on the competitive landscape, market trends and adjacent opportunities
Partner closely with the group’s other analyst on shared workstreams, taking ownership of individual deliverables within larger projects
Work closely with Product and R&D to move concepts through the established development process, handing off validated prototypes and supporting them from spec through build and release
Collaborate cross functionally with Sales, Finance and Operations to source data and pressure test assumptions
Constantly seek out ways to improve individually and to improve TMDS
Travel occasionally to attend customer meetings, company functions and conferences
