Apprentice Sports Learning Support Assistant

Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) are looking for a career driven and ambitious apprenctice to join their team in the PE department. The successful candidate will support in the delivery of high-quality PE lessons while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification alongside the role.

£8.00 - £12.71 (depending on age)

Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting learning in PE:

• Support PE staff in the preparation and safe delivery of lessons, including the setting out and checking of equipment.
  
• Work with individuals and small groups to build skills, confidence and physical literacy, setting aspirational targets.
• Use effective questioning and feedback so that students understand their errors, persevere and improve, developing resilience
  
• Support vulnerable students, including those with SEND, under the guidance of teaching staff and the SENCO
  
• Supervise lessons predominantly in PE

• Sport, clubs including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award:
  With support, plan and run extra-curricular clubs and activities before school, at break and lunchtime, and after school
• Encourage all students to participate to increase the proportion of girls, students with SEND, disadvantaged students and those currently least active to join in
  
• Enthuse students to take part in sport within lessons and beyond, signposting them to school teams and community clubs
  
• Support school teams, fixtures and intra-school competitions, including accompanying teams to events
  
• Be part of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award team helping with expeditions and supporting students with the activities needed to achieve the award

• Build positive, respectful relationships with students, families and colleagues so that every young person feels they belong
  
• Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policy, encouraging students to take responsibility for their own conduct
  
• Champion aspiration and resilience, celebrating effort and progress as well as achievement
  
• Supervise students at break and lunchtimes and support provision such as breakfast or homework clubs
  
• Accompany staff and students on trips and off-site activities, taking responsibility for a group under the supervision of a teacher

Education and Qualifications

Maths and English at GCSE level A-C (4-9) or functional skills equivalent.
