Alfabs Mining is a leading provider of underground mining equipment, maintenance and engineering solutions, delivering innovative outcomes to some of Australia's largest coal mining operations.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Asset Coordinator to support a key underground mining contract in Emerald, Queensland.

This FIFO position is based out of Kurri Kurri, NSW, offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced mining professional looking to combine technical expertise, client engagement and commercial responsibility within a dynamic operational environment.

This is a diverse, hands-on role responsible for coordinating asset performance, maintenance activities, contract delivery and customer relationships to ensure our equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably throughout its lifecycle.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee the management and performance of a fleet of underground mining assets, ensuring maximum equipment availability while supporting operational and commercial objectives.

Working closely with our clients, site teams, maintenance personnel and internal stakeholders, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service and ensuring contractual commitments are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage underground mining assets throughout their full lifecycle, including maintenance planning, overhauls, component replacements and asset retirement.
  • Coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
  • Monitor asset performance, reliability and utilisation, implementing continuous improvement initiatives where required.
  • Coordinate spare parts procurement, inventory management, tracking and warranty claims.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules, delay reporting and equipment performance reports.
  • Lead weekly operational reviews covering equipment availability, maintenance priorities, budgets and forecasting.
  • Monitor contract performance, financial outcomes and commercial deliverables.
  • Coordinate invoicing activities and assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact for operational and commercial matters.
  • Work collaboratively across Operations, Maintenance, Hire and Finance teams to optimise contract performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual, legislative and company safety requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of three days per week to underground mine sites, client locations, with additional travel as required to support operational and business needs

About You

You are a proactive and commercially minded professional with a passion for underground mining operations and equipment reliability.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Underground Coal Mining equipment.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, asset management and equipment lifecycle strategies.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities and improving equipment reliability.
  • Sound commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting and contract performance.
  • Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.
  • Relevant trade qualification highly regarded.
  • Qualifications in Asset Management, Project Management or Contract Management will be advantageous.
