About the role
The Assistant Accountant supports the Finance team with effective management of financial risks and controls. This includes ensuring accuracy of data in reporting systems, reconciliations, the monthly P&L and reporting, as well as assisting with the preparation of budgets.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Finance Manager and wider Finance team to manage financial risk and maintain a strong control framework
- Process stock billings and DSV invoices, ensuring accuracy through regular reconciliations.
- Perform bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Administer Airwallex and travel-related accounts, ensuring receipts and documentation are maintained.
- Support month-end activities, including journal preparation, reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Prepare GST workpapers, ABS surveys and support other statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with external audits and year-end financial reporting activities.
- Monitor financial controls and help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Support Accounts Payable activities and provide backup coverage when required.
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to enhance finance operations.
- Lead and support finance-related projects, including sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Full or part qualified CA / CPA
- 2–3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant role
- NetSuite experience
- Strong attention to detail and internal control mindset
- Analytical thinker who can spot trends, solve problems and recommend a way forward
- Builds great relationships across teams and manages time effectively
- Curious, adaptable and keen to learn
- Effective written and verbal communication
