Assistant Controller

Job Purpose

The Assistant Controller will support the Finance and Accounting department in overseeing and managing the accounting and financial functions of the Exus operating group. This role involves significant responsibility for financial planning, risk management, financial reporting, day-to-day accounting operations, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Principal (Essential) Duties:

• Assist in developing and implementing financial strategies and plans to support the company’s growth and objectives.
• Prepare complex financial forecasts, projections, and budgets with visual representations to present to the leadership team.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and assist in variance analyses.
• Assist in managing relationships with financial institutions, investors, and lenders.
• Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for internal functions, IPP projects, and third party assets.
• Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including consolidation support.
• Coordinate the preparation of schedules and documentation for the yearly audit, collaborating closely with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other relevant regulations across all accounting operations.
• Support investor relations activities by preparing financial reports, schedules, and presentations for investors.
• Assist in managing the accounting and finance team.
• Stay current on technical accounting practices to guarantee the consistent application of corporate accounting principles in full compliance with US GAAP.
• Implement, monitor, and uphold internal controls, company policies, automation, and process improvements that benefit Exus as an organization.

Experience / Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate finance or accounting with roles of progressive responsibilities required, preferably in the renewable energy or energy sector.
• Prior experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar required.
• Solid understanding of financial reporting, general ledger management, and risk management principles required.
• CPA designation or MBA highly preferred (or actively working toward CPA).
• Knowledge of specific accounting standards and regulations related to highly regulated industries and/or the renewable energy industry highly preferred.
• Wind and/or solar energy, real estate, construction project, renewable energy industry, and/or partnership accounting experience preferred.
• Past people management experience developing multiple resources

• Prior experience building board reporting packages highly preferred.
