Assistant Professor

Overview

The faculty member in the College of Pharmacy (COP) has responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical practice. The faculty is expected to provide high quality instruction and training for PharmD students across the didactic, skills-based, and experiential curriculum. Scholarship and/or professional contributions related to the faculty member’s area of expertise are expected. Service to the department, College, University, and profession is also expected.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain a clinical practice site consistent with their area of expertise and participate in experiential education and student precepting. Candidates with expertise in ambulatory care, inpatient general medicine, health-system pharmacy, or acute care pharmacy practice are especially encouraged to apply.

The work requires flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Faculty members are expected to support the mission and vision of the College and contribute to the professional development and success of pharmacy students.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development, delivery, assessment, and continuous quality improvement of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.
• Teach and assess PharmD students in didactic, laboratory, skills-based, and experiential learning environments.
• Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor, supporting students' academic, professional, and personal development.
• Participate in student assessment activities, including competency-based, skills-based, and readiness assessments.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship and professional contributions consistent with the faculty member's area of expertise.
• Develop and maintain a clinical practice site appropriate to the faculty member's expertise and precept pharmacy students in experiential education settings.
• Precept students during health promotion and community outreach activities, including health fairs, student-run free clinics, and related service-learning experiences.
• Serve on departmental, College, University, and professional committees.
• Attend and actively participate in faculty, department, College, and University meetings, and perform other faculty responsibilities as assigned.
• Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, preceptors, and administrators to support student recruitment, retention, and success.
• Engage in ongoing faculty development and continuing professional development activities.
• Prepare reports and other documentation as requested by College or University administrators.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Completion of a PGY1 residency, fellowship, or equivalent advanced clinical training required.
• Current California pharmacist licensure or eligibility for California pharmacist licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a PGY2 residency or equivalent advanced clinical experience.
• Experience teaching professional pharmacy students.
• Expertise in ambulatory care, inpatient general medicine, health-system pharmacy, or acute care pharmacy practice.

Maximum Salary

USD $135,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $125,000.00/Yr.
