ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description

The Associate Director, Product Development (PD) Technology will serve as a senior site and capability leader responsible for scaling and leading PD Tech teams at Amgen in support of global Product Development priorities. This role will provide leadership across multiple product teams and Senior Managers, driving execution discipline, delivery excellence, talent development, operating rigor, and measurable business impact.

This role operates within a global capability model and will partner closely with OPS PD Tech Leads in the U.S. and other global stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, translate them into actionable execution plans, and ensure delivery across India-based teams. The Associate Director will serve as a key connector between global strategy and regional execution, ensuring priorities are clear, dependencies are managed, and teams are positioned to deliver with quality, speed, and consistency.

The role requires leadership across a flexible reporting model. Some product teams may report directly to U.S.-based leaders, while others may report through India-based leadership. Regardless of reporting structure, this leader will be accountable for creating alignment, enabling strong execution, advancing consistent standards, and fostering a high-performance culture.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of leading managers and technology/product teams in a global matrixed environment, with experience driving portfolio execution, maturing operating models, establishing KPIs, improving productivity through AI-enabled ways of working, and building strong partnerships with senior stakeholders.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the PD Tech capability within a global operating model, translating enterprise and Product Development priorities into actionable execution plans and measurable delivery outcomes.
• Partner closely with OPS PD Tech Leads in the U.S. and other global stakeholders to align on priorities, roadmaps, execution plans, resourcing needs, and expected business outcomes.
• Provide leadership across a flexible team structure in which product teams may report directly to U.S.-based leaders or through India-based leadership, ensuring alignment, consistency, and strong execution across the portfolio.
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery across multiple product teams, ensuring effective management of priorities, timelines, dependencies, risks, issues, and resources.
• Lead, coach, and develop Senior Managers and product team leaders, building strong leadership capability, clear accountability, role clarity, and a high-performance culture.
• Strengthen PD Tech organizational capability through hiring, onboarding, talent development, succession planning, performance management, and scalable ways of working.
• Establish, mature, and reinforce product, platform, and technology standards, including architecture best practices, delivery disciplines, governance expectations, and operating norms.
• Drive AI-enabled productivity across teams by identifying, scaling, and governing opportunities to improve delivery speed, quality, decision-making, automation, and operational efficiency.
• Define, monitor, and continuously improve KPIs across delivery performance, quality, productivity, adoption, stakeholder satisfaction, and value realization.
• Build strong partnerships across business, technology, and Product Development stakeholders, serving as a trusted connector between India-based teams and global leadership.
• Drive governance and operating discipline across prioritization, release planning, performance reporting, resource coordination, issue resolution, and cross-functional execution.
• Communicate strategy, progress, risks, outcomes, and performance insights clearly to leadership and stakeholders.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

Must-Have Skills

• Experience leading managers and multi-team technology, product, platform, or digital organizations in a global, matrixed environment.
• Strong experience with product operating models, portfolio planning, delivery governance, prioritization, dependency management, and execution tracking.
• Proven ability to coach and develop Senior Managers or team leaders while building a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative culture.
• Experience establishing KPIs, performance dashboards, operating metrics, and governance mechanisms.
• Experience identifying and implementing AI-enabled productivity improvements across teams, workflows, or delivery processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in technology, product management, digital delivery, platform management, or related functions with 17+ years of overall experience
• 4+ years of experience leading managers, product teams, platform teams, or multi-team technology organizations.
• Experience operating in a global matrixed organization with distributed delivery teams.
• Experience using AI, automation, analytics, or digital tools to improve productivity and operational performance.
