Associate Vice President/Vice President - Engineering - Microservices Architecture/Distributed Systems

This leadership role is designed for an experienced engineering executive who can drive the development of scalable, high-performing technology platforms. You will lead multiple engineering teams, shape architecture strategies, and deliver complex distributed systems that support business growth. The position offers the opportunity to influence engineering excellence, technical direction, and product innovation at scale. You will collaborate closely with product and technology leaders to define solutions that are robust, flexible, and future-ready. The role requires strong expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and engineering leadership. • Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams, including managers and senior engineers, to deliver critical product capabilities.
• Define and drive technical strategies, architecture decisions, and engineering roadmaps for scalable systems.
• Oversee the design and development of robust, flexible, and high-performance solutions based on microservices architecture.
• Partner with engineering, product, and technology leadership teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Establish engineering processes, quality standards, and operational practices to ensure consistent delivery excellence.
• Drive improvements across the software development lifecycle, including design, coding practices, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Champion engineering excellence by implementing metrics, continuous improvement initiatives, and best practices.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects by managing development, integration, and execution plans.
• Mentor engineering leaders and foster a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5+ years in an engineering leadership role.
• Prior experience working in startup environments, with the ability to operate in fast-paced and evolving organizations.
• Strong expertise in microservices-based architecture and experience building distributed systems for large-scale, 24/7 online services.
• Deep understanding of highly transactional systems, large relational databases, and complex technology environments.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software complexity analysis.
• Proven experience defining and implementing software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using data and metrics to drive decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence peers and executives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong ownership mindset, execution focus, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a reputed institution is preferred.
