Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position Overview

The Global Automotive Technology team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented co-op student to support automotive research, competitive benchmarking and data analytics. This co-op will begin May 2027 and end December 2027. The student will organize vehicle and market information, develop analytical tools, identify trends and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Research vehicle specifications, technologies, market trends and publicly available competitive information.
• Collect, organize and maintain structured automotive datasets from approved sources.
• Support vehicle benchmarking and lightweighting-related analyses across selected vehicle segments and systems.
• Develop Excel- or Power BI-based tools, dashboards and visualizations.
• Apply basic statistical and data-quality methods to identify trends, gaps and inconsistencies.
• Prepare concise updates, summaries and presentations for technical and business audiences.
• Collaborate with engineering, materials, sustainability and commercial team members.

Key Projects

• Automotive benchmarking database development and data-quality review.
• Assessment of vehicle features, specifications and market positioning.
• Lightweighting opportunity screening and decision-support tool development.
• Dashboard creation, data visualization and executive communication.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics or a related field.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; Power BI, Python, database or statistical-tool experience is a plus.
• Interest in automotive technology, vehicle design, sustainability, materials or product strategy.
• Ability to research technical information, work with large datasets and document sources carefully.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a cross-functional environment.
