About this role
Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger — and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there.
We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.
We are looking for a Bid Manager / Writer to take ownership of our tender submissions — producing compelling, high-quality bids that win work and reflect the strength of what Harmony does. This is a role at the heart of our commercial engine, working closely with Business Development, Pre Construction, Operations and Senior Leadership to craft submissions that are persuasive, technically credible, and on time every time.
This is more than a writing role. It is about understanding what makes Harmony different, translating that into responses that resonate with clients, and building the systems and library that make our bid process sharper with every submission.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end bid process — from opportunity identification and kick-off through to submission, ensuring every tender is delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Write, edit, and quality-review bid responses across a range of frameworks, procurements, and contract opportunities — including social housing, fire safety, and compliance workstreams.
- Work closely with estimating, pre-construction, operations, and senior leadership to gather the technical content, commercial data, and evidence needed to build winning submissions.
- Develop and maintain a well-organised bid library — including standard responses, case studies, CVs, accreditations, and supporting documentation — keeping it current and accessible.
- Manage multiple concurrent bids, coordinating inputs from across the business and holding colleagues accountable to review deadlines.
- Review and quality-check all submissions before they go out — ensuring responses are clear, compliant, and compelling.
- Track the bid pipeline and outcomes, feeding win/loss analysis back into the team to continuously improve submission quality.
- Support the development of wider BD collateral — including capability statements, presentations, and framework applications — as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
- Proven experience in a bid management or bid writing role, with a track record of delivering high-quality submissions to deadline.
- Exceptional written communication skills — able to write clearly and persuasively, adapting tone and style to different audiences and procurement formats.
- Strong project management skills — able to manage multiple bids simultaneously, coordinate inputs from across a business, and meet hard deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Experience working in or with the social housing, fire safety, construction, or compliance sectors.
- Commercially aware — able to understand pricing, scope, and risk well enough to frame responses accurately and compellingly.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a natural instinct for structure and clarity.
- Confident working with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to extract and shape technical content.
Nice to Have
- Experience with PQQ, ITT, and framework-based procurement processes.
- Familiarity with Harmony Fire’s core service areas — passive fire protection, fire doors, height safety.
- Experience building or managing a bid library from scratch.
- APMP qualification or equivalent bid management accreditation.
Benefits
This is a chance to sit at the commercial heart of one of the UK’s fastest-growing fire safety specialists — owning the bid process end to end and playing a direct role in shaping the contracts that will define our next phase of growth. At Harmony, we ask a lot — and we give a lot back. The hours are real, the standards are high and the work is demanding, but for those who show up, deliver and go the extra mile, the rewards follow. A-players here enjoy a competitive salary, a Personal Development Plan with ongoing training and mentoring, unlimited holiday, a bonus scheme paying up to 50% of annual salary, private medical insurance, enhanced maternity and paternity, lunch, snacks and refreshments on us every day (fresh fruit and Takeaway Friday included), a team social budget, cycle to work, an auto-enrolment pension, two major company events a year and our Reward and Recognition scheme — including European mini-breaks for those who go above and beyond. It is a collaborative, high-energy environment focused on doing things the right way — and none of it is a perk for showing up; it’s what we share with the people pulling the business forward.
