About the Role

Are you passionate about maintaining a safe, clean and well-functioning environment? Join our team as a Building Services Officer (BSO) and play a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our College facilities.

We are currently recruiting for two Building Services Officers, offering the opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team.

As a BSO, you will work alongside colleagues to undertake maintenance, repair, security, and groundskeeping tasks, contributing to the overall well-being of our campuses and their users. This role offers a varied and hands-on work environment, including janitorial duties, statutory compliance, security, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a key holder and manage building access
Perform routine inspections and security checks
Operate and monitor fire and intruder alarm systems
Conduct compliance testing (e.g. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers)
Support reception areas and manage deliveries
Carry out basic maintenance and janitorial tasks
Assist with audits and inter-site deliveries
Work alongside contractors on major projects

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

SIA training/qualification/licence
Health & Safety awareness
NVQ Level 2 in a maintenance-related trade
Experience in facilities management, ideally in an educational setting
Familiarity with CCTV systems and incident management

Skills & Attributes:

Strong communication and organisational skills
Competent in using helpdesk and electronic systems
Excellent customer service
High standards, accountability, and integrity
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
