Key Responsibilities
- Operate the meat band saw to cut beef, pork, poultry, and other products according to department specifications.
- Follow daily production schedules and portion control requirements.
- Inspect, trim, and prepare cuts of meat for packaging or further processing.
- Maintain proper handling, labeling, and storage of all meat products.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and work areas following food safety and OSHA regulations.
- Monitor the band saw for proper operation and report maintenance or safety issues immediately.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in cuts to reduce waste and meet quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
- Assist with other meat department duties as assigned by management.
Skills & competencies
- Previous experience in meat cutting, band saw operation, or a related meat processing role preferred.
- Knowledge of meat cuts, trimming, and portioning.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work safely with sharp tools and heavy equipment.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Excellent hygiene and understanding of food safety procedures.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a refrigerated environment.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Comfortable working around raw meat and operating cutting machinery.
Education & experience
- Basic knowledge of meat processing, food handling, and hygiene standards is an asset.
- Previous experience in meat cutting, band saw operation, or a similar meat production environment is preferred.
- On-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates.
