Who We Are

The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits.

Who You Are

Mikisew Cree First Nation is seeking a Campaign Coordinator - Separation Referendum "No" Vote Campaign (MCFN Member Outreach) on a contract basis through to October 19th, 2026. The successful candidate will lead outreach, communications, and other operations encouraging MCFN members to vote in the upcoming Alberta Referendum. The role focuses on locating, education, and mobilizing MCFN members ahead of the October 19th vote.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the direct-mail program with Canada Post, including stuffing, addressing, stamping, and delivery of campaign correspondence to MCFN members.
• Conduct phone outreach to MCFN members to communicate voting dates, polling locations, and provincial voter ID requirements.
• Plan and execute email and social media campaigns to keep members informed and engaged throughout the campaign period.
• Work closely with the communications team to coordinate messaging, develop and review campaign materials, maintain consistent branding, and ensure timely approval and distribution across all channels
• Participate in regular communications planning meetings, maintain a coordinated content calendar, share updates from member outreach, and incorporate feedback to ensure materials are accurate, culturally appropriate, and responsive to emerging campaign needs.
  
• Information Sessions: Plan and deliver information sessions in four cities, including venue rental, catering, and AV logistics, as well as promoting each session across mail, phone, email, and social channels to drive attendance.
• Volunteer & GOTV Operations: Recruit, organize, and lead a volunteer team supporting get-out-the-vote efforts among MCFN members.
• Recruit and coordinate scrutineers to observe voting at multiple polling locations.

Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and event-planning skills;
• Comfortable with high-volume phone and digital outreach;
• Experience with political campaigns, community engagement, or First Nations community relations an asset;
• Familiarity with MCFN membership and communities a strong asset;
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Contract starts immediately through October 19, 2026.
