We are now seeking an experienced Part timeChaperone to join our team in Dublin City Centre, this is a 16 hour/ week contract and the service operates Monday - Friday so weekday availability is essential
To provide safe, respectful and efficient patient support and chaperoning within Ultrasound. Alongside reception and administrative duties, ensuring smooth patient flow, excellent communication, and consistent adherence to clinic policies, infection prevention standards and patient safety goals.
Patient-Facing Support & Chaperoning
Greet patients, verify identity at every encounter, explain what to expect, and provide empathetic support throughout the visit.
Act as a chaperone for intimate or sensitive examinations, safeguarding dignity, privacy and consent, and documenting chaperone presence.
Assist with safe patient transfers and positioning using approved manual-handling techniques; remain with and monitor patients who require supervision; promptly escalate concerns to the supervising Radiographer/Sonographer.
Support basic comfort needs and keep patients informed about delays and next steps.
Ultrasound (US) Support
Prepare the US room, ensure consumables are stocked, assist patients on/off the couch, and chaperone during scans as requested
Handle routine cleaning between patients and perform high-level disinfection of probes following training, local SOPs and traceability requirements.
Confirm patient arrival on RIS and help manage the day list and follow-ups as directed.
Reception & Administration
Provide reception/admin cover as needing to include scheduling/booking, and next-day list checks; handling queries and escalating clinical questions appropriately.
Maintain accurate patient documentation on RIS and assist with PACS retrieval as directed (e.g., scanning documents, monitoring worklists, sending/receiving imaging to hospitals etc).
Quality, Safety & Infection Prevention
Uphold Infection Prevention & Control, JCI hygiene standards and International Patient Safety Goals
Participate in audits, stock checks, equipment cleaning logs and room turnaround standards; report incidents/near misses promptly.
Stock, Housekeeping & Logistics
Keep clinical and non-clinical areas tidy and ready; restock consumables; manage waste streams correctly (incl. sharps/clinical waste).
Assist with moving equipment and coordinating patient transport as requested.
Professional Conduct & Development
Maintain confidentiality and data protection; use PPE and follow manual/patient handling training.
Support new staff orientation when asked; complete mandatory training and keep competencies up to date (e.g., BLS, manual handling, fire etc.)
Requirements
Essential
Leaving Certificate or equivalent
Fluent in written and Oral English
Desirable
QQI/FETAC Level 5 Health Care–related major award (e.g., Healthcare Support / Health Service Skills) or equivalen
Certificates in Manual Handling, Basic Life Support, Fire Safety; experience in a hospital/clinic or care environment
Prior exposure to Ultrasound/CT/MRI settings
