We are looking for a part time Shop Assistant to join our friendly team at our Havelock North Charity Shop on Joll Road.

This is a varied, people focused role where you will support the Shop Manager in the day to day running of the shop. You'll help deliver excellent customer service, create an inviting shopping experience, support our valued volunteers and contribute to the shop's success in raising funds for PSEC's community services.

We're looking for someone with retail experience who enjoys working with people, has a great eye for presentation and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

To be successful in this role you will have:


  • Retail experience.
  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and administration skills.
  • Confident computer skills.
  • A positive, "can do" attitude and the flexibility to work in a busy retail environment.


Hours of work

This position is 20 hours per week and includes working Saturday mornings from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm, plus one weekday shift (morning or afternoon by agreement). There will also be opportunities to work additional hours to cover annual and sick leave.
