We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Checkouts Team Member to join our team at The Warehouse in Taupō. In this part-time role, you will be the friendly face at our checkouts, delivering exceptional service whilst maintaining our high operational standards. You will thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, where your efficiency, reliability, and genuine care for our customers make a real difference to their shopping experience.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the checkout, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience - Handle cash, card payments, and other payment methods with precision and integrity - Maintain a welcoming and professional demeanour, greeting customers warmly and addressing their queries with patience and empathy
- Operate point of sale (POS) systems and related technology with confidence and accuracy - Keep the checkout area clean, organised, and well-stocked throughout your shift - Collaborate with team members to support the smooth running of the store, particularly during busy periods
- Follow company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines - Demonstrate flexibility and resilience when managing unexpected situations or high customer volumes - Contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment where colleagues feel supported and valued - Continuously seek opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge of store systems and products
Hours of work are -
- Wednesday - Saturday 8:00am - 12:00pm
Qualifications
**Required:** - Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment - Strong cash handling skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to interact positively with diverse customers - Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining consistent service standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and manage the physical demands of the role - Willingness to learn new systems and technology quickly - Flexibility to work the scheduled part-time hours (Thursday 3:00pm–9:00pm)
** Desirable:** - Previous experience in a retail or customer-facing role - Experience operating checkout or till systems - Familiarity with point of sale (POS) technology - A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities - Experience working as part of a collaborative team in a busy environment
