Childcare Worker or Room Lead

Position Title: Childcare Worker/Childcare Room Lead

Job Status: On-Call (Tuesday mornings, evenings, Sunday afternoons; hours vary by event)
Reports To: Women’s Director & Executive Admin, Childcare Coordinator

Role Summary

The Childcare Worker/Room Lead helps create a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children feel known, loved, and cared for. In partnership with the Childcare Coordinator and other team members, this role provides Christ-centered care, leads classroom routines and activities, and helps maintain an orderly, welcoming space.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 16 years or older; background check required for those 18+
• Committed to following Jesus and growing as a disciple
• Warm, patient, kind, encouraging, and enjoys working with children
• Dependable, responsible, flexible, and able to remain calm in unexpected situations
• Communicates clearly and respectfully with children, parents, and team members
• Teachable, willing to receive feedback, and reflects Bethel’s values in word and action

Responsibilities & Duties

• Follow all Bethel Church childcare policies and procedures
• Arrive early to help Childcare Coordinator set up activities and prepare the classroom
• Provide a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment
• Follow the provided schedule and lead age-appropriate lessons and activities
• Facilitate snacks and classroom routines
• Verify parent/guardian security tags at drop-off and pick-up
• Communicate children’s needs or concerns to the Childcare Coordinator
• Clean, sanitize, and reset the classroom after each session
• Attend required training and ongoing development opportunities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Age-Appropriate Duties & Legal Requirements

• Responsibilities will be assigned based on age, maturity, experience, and level of responsibility.
• Employees under 18 will work within all applicable Washington State and federal youth-employment requirements.
• Bethel will complete required minor-employment documentation and schedule minor employees according to applicable requirements for work hours, school, supervision, safety, and prohibited duties.
• Room Lead responsibilities may be limited to employees who are 18 or older and have the appropriate experience and training.
