What you will do:
As a Civil Fibre Technician, you will be responsible for fibre installations and remedial work, ensuring everything meets industry and Civtec and Switch standards. You’ll draw on your strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills to carry out fibre splicing, testing, and diagnostics across a range of installation and maintenance scenarios. With excellent communication and a can‑do attitude, you’ll collaborate with clients and teammates to deliver safe, high‑quality work on time and within budget.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Fibre splicing, testing, and fault diagnosis using OTDR and power meters
- Installing internal cables and cross-patching for new clients
Confident working with 12f, 24f, 144f and 288f fibre - Working with low DC power and active equipment
- Hauling and blowing fibre, micro duct & ribbonet jointing
- Ability to install cabinets and PEDS
- Experience laying and hauling Mult ducts in open trench and multi duct jointing
- Completing projects safely, on time, and within budget
What we are looking for:
- 3+ years’ experience in telecommunications
- Knowledge of Central Offices/Exchanges/Data Centres and outside plant
Experience working in Telecom exchanges - terminate 144f and 288f fibre inside OFDF trays and FIST inside Manholes.
Knows OTDR testing for cabinet livening and other DFAS jobs as per telecom standards - Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Full NZ driver’s license
- Physically fit with a “can-do” attitude
