Job Purpose

Purpose of Post:

The purpose of the RACC CNS/CNM2 acts as a clinical leader in cardiology. Incorporated within this role, the CNS/ CNM2 will act as a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost-effective practitioner. The skills required for this post include clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, collaboration, education, mentoring and leadership to function as a change agent. These skills and knowledge are used within three major areas of focus, nursing and nursing practice, patients and families and finally organizational / service needs.

The salary scale for this post is (01/06/2026):

€62,699, €63,737, €64,615, €66,048, €67,633, €69,189, €70,745, €72,497, €74,123, €76,921, €79,227 LSI

A panel may be created for Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Cardiology- Rapid Access Cardiology Clinic (RACC) from specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.

Essential Criteria

This post is confined to staff currently working in and directly employed by Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown

Each candidate must, at the latest date for receipt of completed applications for the post possess:

1a. Professional Qualifications & Experience

(i) Are registered in the relevant Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered

And

(ii) Have at least 5 years post registration experience (or an aggregate of 5 years post registration full time experience) of which 2 post registration full time experience (or an aggregate of 2 years post registration full time experience) must be in the specialty area of Cardiology or related area

And

(iii) Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

And

(iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development

And

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

2. Annual Registration

(i) On appointment, Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Board Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

And

(ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

3. HealthA candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4. CharacterEach candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Post Specific Requirements:

Demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience in cardiology and acute care of the patient as relevant to the role.
