Job Responsibilities
- Plans and executes machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, machining parameters and tolerances
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
- Sets-up mills and lathes
- Loads material feeders by lifting stock into position
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards
- Maintains specifications, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Maintains safe operations. adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintains equipment, completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Documents actions, completing production and quality logs
- Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
Training
- On the floor training
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
- Machining & CNC programming experience required; ability to read and write Gcode, CAM experience will be an asset
- Experience using precision measurement tools
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Good at math with analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
- Hands-on with strong mechanical abilities
- Possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail
- Strong communication skills -relates well to all kinds of people
- Learns quickly when facing new problems, open to change, quickly grasps issues to solve
- Perseveres especially in the face of resistance or setbacks
