About the Role

The Communications Officer is responsible for managing Badil's communications channels, digital presence, and public-facing content. The role works closely with the Editorial and communications team, analysts, and external partners to ensure that Badil's research, policy analysis, investigations, and institutional activities are communicated clearly and effectively across Englush andArabic.

The Communications Officer manages Badil's social media platforms and website, coordinates communications campaigns and content production, oversees publication schedules, and monitors communications performance. The role requires strong bilingual writing, digital communications, and project management skills, as well as the ability to translate complex research, policy, and investigative content into accessible material for different audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy and Planning

• Develop and implement communications plans aligned with Badil's research, investigations, policy work, and public events, recommending appropriate formats, channels, and timelines.
• Ensure consistency in messaging, tone of voice, branding, and visual identity across English and Arabic.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen Badil's visibility, reach, and audience engagement in Lebanon and the wider region.
  

Content Development and Editorial Coordination

• Produce and edit bilingual public-facing content – social media posts, website copy, newsletters, press releases, campaign messaging, video captions, and donor-facing materials.
• Coordinate with the Editorial Team to prepare and publish content to agreed timelines.
• Proofread and review all public-facing materials in English and Arabic for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Badil's style.

Digital Channels: Social Media, Newsletters and Website

• Manage Badil's presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and WhatsApp, including bilingual content calendars, scheduling, and audience monitoring.
• Manage Badil's newsletter and email communications, maintaining subscriber lists in line with data protection practices.
• Manage and update thebadil.com via WordPress, applying basic SEO practices.
• Coordinate with web developers and technical providers on maintenance and improvements, and monitor website performance.

Campaigns, Events, and Multimedia Coordination

• Develop and manage communications plans for reports, investigations, and events, coordinating timelines, approvals, and dissemination.
• Brief and coordinate with designers, videographers, and external consultants, reviewing drafts for quality, branding, and platform suitability.

Analytics and Reporting

• Monitor communications performance across social media, website, and email using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and WordPress analytics.
• Produce regular communications reports with evidence-based recommendations to improve content, publishing practices, and audience engagement.

Project and Workflow Management

• Manage multiple communications tasks and publication timelines simultaneously, tracking deadlines, approvals, and outstanding materials.
• Maintain communications calendars, trackers, and internal documentation, coordinating with freelancers and consultants as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in communications, preferably within a think tank, NGO, research institution, media organisation, or international organisation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and content adaptation skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple social media platforms professionally.
• Strong practical experience using WordPress to publish and manage website content.
• Experience using Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Mailchimp, and website analytics tools.
• Experience producing communications performance reports and presenting analytical findings.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design and content-production tools.
• Strong organisational, coordination, and project management skills.
• Arabic is a must for this role.

• Compensation is commensurate with experience.
• A probation period of three to six months is applicable.
• Private healthcare coverage.
• Flexible working arrangements and incentive packages are provided following the probation period.
