Communications Strategist II

Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Communications Strategist to host guests and facilitate activities and events in support of the ISS launches at Kennedy Space Center. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with all ISS organizations to compile a guest nominations list for each launch.
• Coordinate with NASA KSC Launch Guest Operations staff to invite and communicate with the nominated guests.
• Coordinate with NASA KSC Launch Guest Operations staff to make logistical arrangements for launch guest activities – securing buses, reserving OSB 2 5th floor for viewing event, procuring catering services.
• Coordinate with ISS Ground Processing and Research Project Office to communicate timelines and logical details
• Arrange for guest speaker for launch guest viewing event.
• On launch day: meet guests at guest center, check in guests, welcome guests, load buses and escort to OSB2, host guests during launch viewing event.
• Support/coordinate potential tours for ISS Program Office leadership and guests. UB Front Office may take lead if the manager for ISS is involved.
• Provide summary of all event activities that occurred before, during, and after the launch to the Exploration Research and Technology (ER&T) Senior Management Team.

Qualifications

5+ years experience in communications and public relations. Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or a related field. Proficient in oral and written communications; writing and editing; and problem solving. Must be a US citizen.
