Job Description

Bose is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer, Control to join our Audio Technology Licensing Engineering team in China.

This role will serve as a critical technical bridge between Bose's global ANC engineering teams and our customers, ODM/OEM partners, and chipset vendors in China. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, validating, optimizing, and supporting the integration of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) solutions into customer products while ensuring alignment with Bose performance and user experience standards.

The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in audio systems, ANC technologies, DSP-based signal processing, and product integration with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

ANC Solution Evaluation and Validation

• Evaluate ANC solutions developed by customers, ODM/OEM partners, or Bluetooth/DSP chipset vendors.
• Analyze system architectures and assess the technical capability of ANC implementations, including Feedforward, Feedback, Hybrid, Adaptive ANC, and Transparency modes.
• Define and execute validation plans to assess ANC performance, stability, robustness, latency, wind noise handling, and user experience.
• Identify performance gaps and provide technical recommendations to improve ANC effectiveness and overall product performance.
• Ensure customer implementations meet Bose technical requirements and quality standards.

Bose ANC Algorithm Integration

• Support the deployment and integration of Bose ANC technologies into customer audio products.
• Collaborate closely with Bose ANC engineering teams to understand algorithm requirements and implementation constraints.
• Work with customer engineering teams and chipset vendors to integrate Bose ANC solutions on target hardware platforms.
• Support algorithm tuning, parameter optimization, system verification, and performance debugging throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of ANC-related system issues.

Audio System Architecture Assessment

• Evaluate customer audio architectures, including microphones, speakers, Bluetooth SoCs, DSP platforms, codecs, and embedded software frameworks.
• Assess platform suitability and identify technical risks associated with ANC implementation.
• Recommend hardware and software improvements to maximize ANC performance and product differentiation.
• Provide system-level guidance on audio signal paths, acoustic designs, processing limitations, and performance trade-offs.

Customer and Partner Technical Support

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for ANC-related discussions with customers and technology partners.
• Lead technical reviews, design evaluations, troubleshooting activities, and performance discussions.
• Support customer development teams during integration, validation, qualification, and production phases.
• Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Bose ANC engineers in the United States and other global teams to ensure successful technology deployment.
• Collaborate with Acoustics, DSP, Software, Systems Engineering, Product Management, and Business Development teams.
• Contribute technical expertise during customer engagements and new business opportunities involving ANC technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of ANC technologies, including Feedforward, Feedback, Hybrid, Adaptive ANC, and Transparency modes.
• Experience evaluating, tuning, validating, or deploying ANC solutions in consumer audio products.
• Strong knowledge of audio DSP systems and real-time signal processing.
• Experience working with Bluetooth audio platforms and DSP-based embedded systems.
• Understanding microphone systems, electroacoustics, and headset/earbud architectures.
• Proven ability to analyze complex system-level issues across hardware, acoustics, firmware, software, and algorithms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin.
• Ability to work effectively with global cross-functional teams and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with premium headphones, earbuds, hearables, or other ANC-enabled consumer audio products.
• Hands-on experience with Bluetooth audio chipsets and DSP platforms from Qualcomm, Airoha, BES, ADI, NXP, or similar vendors.
• Experience porting audio algorithms across multiple hardware platforms.
• Familiarity with ANC tuning tools, acoustic measurement systems, and audio validation methodologies.
• Experience working directly with China-based OEM/ODM customers.
• Experience supporting products from concept through mass production.

Education & Experience

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Engineering, or a related field. MS preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in consumer audio products, embedded systems, or related technology development.
• Experience working in customer-facing technical roles and cross-regional engineering environments is highly desirable.
