Position Summary
The Crossing Guard is responsible for the safety of children and pedestrians at designated street crossings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely escort children and pedestrians across streets, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
  • Monitor traffic flow to ensure safe conditions for crossing.
  • Use handheld stop signs or other signals to alert drivers when pedestrians are crossing.
  • Maintain vigilance at assigned crossing areas to prevent accidents or dangerous situations.
  • Report any hazardous conditions or incidents to appropriate authorities or school officials.
  • Provide assistance and direction to children and pedestrians as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with school personnel, law enforcement, and parents regarding safety concerns.
  • Attend training sessions as required by local authorities or the school district.
  • Educational Background

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Knowledge of traffic safety laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and move quickly when necessary.
