Custodial Worker - Night Shift

Night Shifts, Saturday to Wednesday, 11:30pm - 7:30am
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, and under the supervision of the Custodial Chargehand, the Custodial Worker is responsible for the carrying out of the custodial procedures necessary to maintain cleanliness and order in the Students' Union Building.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning: floors - scrubbing, stripping, waxing and polishing; carpets - vacuuming and shampooing; equipment used; stairways; washrooms; outside entrance of building stairway.
- Emptying of waste receptacles and recycling bins.
- Dusting down all stairways banisters and any other specified areas.
- Ensure all doors are locked after hours.
- Help other custodians if needed, once work is completed.
- Snow removal in immediate vicinity of all entrances.
- Event set up for UASU venues which includes lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Some supervision may be involved when management or chargehand are not on duty.
- Reporting any necessary repairs to the Custodial Chargehand or management.
- Perform other job related duties within the bounds of the required qualifications, as coordinated by management.
Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of custodial work helpful.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Completion of a level of education equivalent to Alberta Grade IX.
- Good English communication and comprehension skills.
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to plan, organize, schedule and coordinate work.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check as a condition of employment.
