Custodian

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, faculty and staff, families, and visitors. The Custodian is an important member of our school community and plays a key role in ensuring our classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and campus facilities are clean, well-maintained, and ready for daily use.

Position Details:
Title: Custodian
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports to: Head of School
Schedule: Full-Time; 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
This role operates on an academic year schedule, with opportunities for additional hours during summer and holiday breaks based on organizational needs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
  
• Ability to perform basic math calculations
  
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures, and occupational hazards safety rules
  
• Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
  
• Ability to walk, move, and perform repetitive motions for long periods
  
• Ability to lift heavy objects, and climb ladders
  
• Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Custodian will:

• Keep the building and grounds clean and in an orderly condition
  
• Perform routine maintenance across building and grounds
  
• Perform heavy cleaning duties
  
• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors
  
• Gather and empty trash
  
• Scrub, sanitize, and supply restrooms
  
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment
  
• Clean and polish windows, mirrors, and partitions with cleaning agents
  
• Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions
  
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  
• Notify the Director of Facilities regarding repairs or additions to building operating systems
