JOB TITLE: Evening Custodian

REPORTS TO: Facilities Coordinator

STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

Since 1991, Emerald Youth Foundation has worked to support Knoxville’s youth and prepare generations of Godly community leaders. Emerald Youth has engaged more than 30,000 children and young adults in a variety of community programs over nearly three decades. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning and health programs.

JOB SUMMARY:

The evening custodian will maintain and protect our Lonsdale facility. The external and internal appearance of the building reflects Emerald Youth Foundation. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The evening custodian will be focused on building upkeep, have great physical endurance to cover a large space, and have a keen eye for detail.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables.
• Wipe mirrors and windows.
• Maintain outer premises by cleaning entrances.
• Report damages to the Facilities Coordinator.
• Assist with occasional additional tasks as needed (e.g. shoveling snow from sidewalk, lifting items, moving chairs .and tables, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards.
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
• Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role.
• Experience working in business or non-profit strongly preferred.
• Prioritizes tasks and works well under pressure – operates with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work efficiently.
