Position

Role Overview

The Data Analyst (m/f/d) in the Innovation and Product Development Team supports data‑driven decision‑making by transforming complex commodities and market data into clear, actionable insights. The role focuses on building high‑quality dashboards, analysing trends in minerals and metals markets, and working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable reporting, meaningful insights, and self‑service analytics solutions that support innovation, strategy, and product development activities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Data Visualisation & Reporting
  • Design, build and maintaininteractive dashboards and reports (e.g. in Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar tools) for internal stakeholders.

  • Translate complexcommodities market data (esp. minerals and metals) intoclear, user-friendly visual narratives.

  • Develop standardisedreporting templates and data visualisation guidelines to ensure a consistent look-and-feel and interpretation.

  • Implementself-service BI solutions, enabling non-technical users to explore and filter data independently.

  • Continuouslyimprove and iterate on dashboards based on user feedback and changing business needs.

2. Data Analysis & Insights Generation
  • Performexploratory data analysis on commodity price data, market indices, supply-demand indicators, and other relevant datasets.

  • Identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies inraw, advanced and critical materials markets.

  • Preparead-hoc analyses and visualisations to support strategic projects, management decisions, and external reporting.

  • DevelopKPIs and metrics to monitor market developments and internal performance indicators.

  • Summarise findings inclear, concise insight reports, including visual storytelling and key messages tailored to the audience.

3. Data Management & Engineering Collaboration
  • Work closely with other teams or experts to ensurereliable data pipelines, from data ingestion to visualisation.

  • Contribute to the design ofdata models, semantic layers, and datasets optimised for BI and visualisation tools.

  • Help define and maintaindata quality checks (e.g. completeness, consistency, timeliness) for commodities and market data.

  • Support integration ofexternal data sources (market feeds, APIs, databases, files) into the analytics environment.

  • Documentdata sources, definitions, transformations and business logic used in dashboards and reports.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Consulting
  • Act as atrusted partner for internal stakeholders (e.g. business development, strategy, innovation, procurement, finance).

  • Work with stakeholders torefine requirements, prioritise dashboard features, and understand decision-making needs.

  • Providetraining and guidance to colleagues on how to interpret and use dashboards and visualisations.

  • Present key findings and dashboards tonon-technical audiences, explaining methodology, assumptions, and limitations.

  • Critically review data to spot errors, inconsistencies, and anomalies in large datasets.

  • Collect and structureuser feedback to drive continuous improvement of analytics products.

5. Governance, Standards & Innovation
  • Contribute tobest practices and standards for data visualisation, data storytelling, and reporting within the organisation.

  • Ensure compliance withdata governance, security and privacy policies.

  • Stay up to date ontools, methods and trends in data visualisation, BI and commodities analytics.

  • Prototype and testnew visualisation approaches (e.g. advanced charts, geospatial visualisations, scenario simulations).

Requirements & Skills

1. Education & Background
  • Degree inComputer Science, Data/Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or similar quantitative field.

  • Equivalent experience indata analytics and visualisation is also considered.

2. Professional Experience
  • 3+ years in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or Visualisation-focused role.

  • Any consulting background would be appreciated

  • Experience withcommodities/commodity market data, ideally inminerals or metals.

  • Strong background in analysingprices, indices, supply–demand, trading or risk-related datasets.

  • Exposure toraw, advanced or critical materials is a plus.

  • Proven ability to deliverbusiness-relevant dashboards and insights.

  • Exposure to Market Intelligence topics is a plus

3. Technical Skills – Must Have
  • Data Visualisation: Advanced skills inPower BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker, including modelling and complex calculations.

  • Analysis & Querying: StrongSQL + experience withPython (pandas, plotly, matplotlib) orR.

  • Data Infrastructure: Understanding ofdatabases, ETL/ELT, APIs, and preferablycloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).

  • Data Modelling & Quality: Ability to buildreporting models and ensuredata quality and validation.

  • Excel: Advanced user (Power Query, pivot tables, formulas).

4. Technical Skills – Nice to Have
  • Time‑series forecasting forcommodity prices.

  • Experience withfinancial/market data feeds & APIs.

  • Geospatial visualisation skills (GIS, maps).

  • Familiarity withGit or collaborative development.

  • Understanding ofrisk analytics or scenario modelling.
