Data Engineer

The Role

• As a data evangelist, you will be the thought leader in data driven decision making.
• Requires an individual with a background in a quantitative or technical field with experience in large and, at times, dirty data sets.
• You are a proactive learner, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the growth of a product.

Purpose of the Role

• Develop data sets to enable operational and exploratory analysis
• Democratize data by building dashboards on data tools (eg Mode)
• Automate analysis and authoring pipelines through SQL and ETL framework (eg Python based Airflow)
• Identify product metrics and define levers of success
• Monitor and discover trends, patterns and root causes of changes
• Partner with team members to tell the story behind data and drive decisions
• Contribute to product roadmap through data based recommendations
• Prioritize areas of opportunity to drive growth and uplift user satisfaction
• Data evangelist to team members for best data and analytics practices

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience with quantitative analysis
• Advanced in SQL (any variation, we use PostgreSQL)
• Experience building data pipelines (eg Fivetran, Airflow)
• Understanding of statistics and experience using statistical methods (hypothesis testing, A/B testing, regressions)
• Ability to communicate the results of analyses with Product and Executive team to influence the strategy of the product
• Enjoy an environment of fast growth and ambiguity
• Experience in statistical languages (R, Python)
• Degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, other technical fields or relevant work experience
