Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
* Collect, process, and clean large datasets from diverse sources, including air quality sensors, environmental reports, and client assessments.
* Develop and manage data warehousing solutions to support advanced analytics and reporting.
* Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across all our systems and platforms.
* Collaborate with our team of environmental consultants and analysts to understand their data requirements and support their work.
* Optimise data retrieval processes and query performance to improve efficiency.
* Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering to continuously enhance our capabilities.
Qualifications
* Proven experience working as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is highly regarded.
* Strong proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with relational databases.
* Practical experience with ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline orchestration frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect).
* Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java.
* Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
* Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a significant advantage.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
* A genuine interest in environmental science or using data for social good would be a considerable asset.
