Department of War Account Executive

Responsibilities

This strategic Account Executive will lead growth across Planet Technologies' Department of War portfolio, driving expansion with military services, defense agencies, and strategic mission partners. The role combines executive relationship management, business development, portfolio oversight, and market strategy to accelerate Microsoft-focused modernization initiatives across the DoW ecosystem.

A successful track record working within the DoW space to provide Management or IT Services is essential as well as exceptional communication skills with internal and external C-Level executives.

Success in this role will be measured through annual bookings, revenue growth, customer expansion, strategic partner development, and overall portfolio profitability.

Experience positioning Microsoft cloud, security, AI, data, and workplace modernization solutions within federal environments is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with senior DoD leaders, mission stakeholders, acquisition executives, and industry partners.

Manage end-to-end client relationships,

Partner closely with the Federal Growth Office to drive sales efforts and support growth across key DoW accounts

Achieve annual revenue and margin goals, targeting more than 10% year over year growth

Develop strategic direction within DoW clients while contributing to the organization’s broader long-term strategy

Rapidly assess, validate, and qualify new business opportunities within the DoD marketplace

Collaborate across teams to design and execute both tactical initiatives and long-term strategic solutions

Build and maintain strong relationships with prime contractors and subcontractor partners

Present effectively and lead discussions with mid-level managers and senior executives

Qualifications

15+ years supporting DoW or Federal civilian agencies through IT services, consulting, systems integration, cloud, or digital modernization programs

10+ years leading growth, account management, capture, delivery, or portfolio operations within Federal markets

5+ years owning financial performance, forecasting, pipeline development, or P&L management

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

15 years of experience providing IT services to the US Federal government (Management Consulting or IT Professional Services)

15 years of experience managing and driving strategy of large, diverse teams and complex projects within DoW space.

At least 5 years of experience in P&L management, financial forecasting, invoicing and contract management and proposal development and deal/pursuit management

Experience delivering complex and varied technical solutions including those within the Microsoft sphere of influence

Demonstrated lasting relationships at the Federal CXO level and a proven ability to build relationships with new (changing) administration officials

Deep understanding of the federal procurement process and a demonstrated track record of working with clients to expand existing programs and close new business within that procurement framework

Ability to hold and maintain a security clearance, as well as travel as needed
