About the Role
Hunter Strategy is seeking a Deputy IT Project Manager to support a new, greenfield mission with a large federal civilian agency. You report to the Project Manager and work alongside them to build out the program's project management and SAFe work products, keeping a cross-functional program organized and moving.
This is a client-facing role from the start. You brief Government stakeholders directly, and the program runs on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), so implementation experience is part of the job.
What You Will Do
- Work alongside the Project Manager to build andmaintainthe program's project management and SAFe work products, including status reports, plans, trackers, and delivery metrics
- Prepare and deliver briefings to Government clients
- Track deliverables, action items, risks, and schedule across a cross-functional program
- Coordinate across teams and organizations to keep information moving and blockers visible
- Support PI Planning and program cadence alongside the Agile practitioners on the team
What You Bring
- 6+ yearsof project or program management experience
- SAFe implementation experience and working knowledge of the framework
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment
- Experience overseeing architecture and engineering work
- Highly organized, with strong written and verbal communication
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Comfortable leading up and down the chain, from team members to senior leadership
- Comfortable speaking with and briefing Government clients
- Ability to obtain andmaintaina Public Trust suitability determination
Preferred
- Experience working in an environment thatestablishesan architectural baseline
- PMP or SAFe Agilist certification
- Experience supporting federal civilian or defense programs; GSA experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for program tracking and reporting
Position Details
This position is contingent upon contract award, with a tentative start date of September 1, 2026. Work is remote-first; occasional onsite support in Washington, DC may be coordinated with the Government. Hunter Strategy is an equal opportunity employer.
