Position Summary

The Digital Merchandising (eCommerce) Intern will improve and grow our Shopify-based online store. This internship offers hands-on experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, SEO, and content management while supporting our mission. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and excited to learn about online retail and digital merchandising.

This is a part-time, unpaid internship expected to work in the office at our downtown Tucson location approximately 4-8 hours per week during regular office hours.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and optimize product descriptions for clarity, consistency, and search engine visibility
• Create and update product metadata, including titles, tags, meta descriptions, and alt text
• Edit, resize, and upload product photos to maintain a professional and consistent online storefront
• Assist with organizing product collections, categories, and navigation
• Perform basic keyword research to improve product discoverability
• Review product listings for accuracy, formatting, and completeness
• Maintain brand consistency across product pages and digital content
• Assist with basic Shopify store maintenance and content updates
• Research e-commerce trends and recommend ideas to improve the online shopping experience
• Collaborate with staff on special digital marketing or web projects as needed

Essential Skills and Abilities

No prior professional experience is required. We welcome students and individuals eager to gain practical experience in e-commerce and digital marketing.

Candidates with coursework, experience, or interest in one or more of the following are encouraged to apply:

• Shopify or other website platforms
• Digital marketing
• Search engine optimization (SEO)
• Web design or user experience (UX)
• Graphic design
• Photography or photo editing
• Marketing, communications, or journalism
• Business, retail, or merchandising

• Excellent writing and proofreading skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable learning new software and online tools
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Basic familiarity with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
• Experience with photo editing software preferred
