Direct Support Staff (Community Based) - Brain Injury Services

As a Direct Support Staff, you’ll provide hands-on support, guidance, and encouragement to adults with developmental disabilities. This is an entry-level role with meaningful responsibilities and the chance to build lasting relationships. In this role, you’ll assist individuals with daily living activities, such as personal care, meals, routines and community outings – while helping them build skills and independence

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, feeding, and medication support
• Encourage independence and support individuals in developing social, communication, and independent living skills
• Assist with meal preparation, household tasks, shopping, appointments, and community activities
• Support individuals in achieving goals identified in their service plans
• Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, or support needs to program leadership
• Accurately complete documentation, progress notes, and incident reports within required timelines
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities
• Transport individuals safely to appointments, community outings, and activities using agency or personal vehicles as needed
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, SOLVE, HR/DPPC)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license, reliable insured vehicle, and willingness to transport individuals required
• Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive disabilities, or mental health challenges preferred
• Basic computer and documentation skills required
• Strong interpersonal, communication and coaching skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, person-centered environment
• Commitment to supporting diverse populations
