About this role
About Vivid Solutions
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in sunny Victoria, British Columbia, Vivid Solutions is a full-service software design and development company. We build products with purpose, combining human-centred design, modern technology and a collaborative, Agile approach to deliver solutions our clients and their users genuinely want to use. Our work supports complex initiatives for public and private sector clients across British Columbia, including multi-agency government programs.
As a mid-sized company, we offer the best of both worlds: small enough that your contributions make a real difference, and large enough to offer stability and room to grow. For 30 years, we have built lasting relationships with our clients and our team.
About the Role
As our Director of Professional Services, you will be a billable, client-facing leader and a member of our Management Team. You will lead delivery on your own client portfolios and projects while overseeing delivery health across the practice and coaching and developing our team of portfolio and project leaders.
This role is a great fit for someone who loves staying close to client work and who also takes pride in building the systems, rhythms and people that make great delivery happen consistently.
What You Will Do
- Lead delivery on assigned client portfolios and projects, owning plans, budgets, scope, risks and status reporting, and serving as the client's primary contact for delivery matters.
- Oversee delivery health across all client portfolios, identifying at-risk work early and ensuring issues are addressed and resolved.
- Assign and balance delivery leadership across portfolios, ensuring every portfolio and project has clear ownership and appropriate capacity.
- Establish consistent portfolio reviews and reporting that give leadership clear, reliable visibility into delivery and financial performance.
- Lead, coach and develop portfolio and project leaders, set clear expectations and address performance directly
- Recruit for delivery roles and build a pipeline of future delivery leaders.
- Build trusted client relationships that support satisfaction, repeat business and renewals.
- Lead delivery input on proposals and procurement responses, and identify opportunities for growth within existing client work.
- Continuously improve our delivery model, standards and tools in collaboration with our architecture, design and technology teams.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of client-facing senior management experience in professional services, including delivery operations and contract management.
- 5+ years of project or portfolio management experience on medium to large IT projects, including program-level budgets, risks and issues.
- Proven experience leading and coaching project managers or delivery leads, not only individual contributors.
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects or portfolios with annual budgets in the range of $1 million to $5 million, or comparable complexity.
- Experience in a billable delivery leadership role, balancing personal utilization with management responsibilities.
- Experience across the full lifecycle of custom software development, delivery and support, including Agile delivery practices.
- Experience establishing or improving portfolio governance, delivery standards or management reporting.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to lead executive-level business and technology discussions.
- Post-secondary education in IT, business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Assets
- Experience delivering for BC public sector clients, including familiarity with BC government procurement.
- An established network within the BC public and private sector IM/IT community.
- Experience contributing to proposals and competitive procurement responses.
What We Offer
- Competitive wages and a profit share program.
- Comprehensive extended health and dental coverage.
- RRSP matching.
- Personal health and wellness benefit.
- Professional development support.
- A 40-hour work week that respects your time outside of work.
- A stable, collaborative and respectful team culture, with regular social event.
- An office in Victoria, one of Canada's most liveable cities.
