Responsibilities

The Director, Optical Merchandising is responsible for building and leading EyeSouth Partners' optical merchandising program enterprise-wide: a business generating approximately $35M in annual optical revenue and $11.4M in annualized vendor spend. This role owns vendor strategy, contract negotiation, and pricing across the Optical Labs, Frames & Eyewear, and Contact Lens categories, along with Optical Equipment & Diagnostics and Retail Supplies & Accessories. The Director partners closely with Operations, Finance, Accounts Payable, Legal, and clinical/practice leadership to consolidate the vendor base, standardize contracts and pricing, and drive profitable, consistent optical merchandising across practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in optical, merchandising, retail category management, supply chain, or a related field, including experience managing vendor contracts and pricing programs.
• Proven experience negotiating and managing vendor contracts, rebate/growth programs, and category-level strategies, ideally within optical, retail, or healthcare supply chain.
• Experience developing and executing merchandising strategy, including product assortment, retail pricing, and margin management.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate spend, pricing, vendor performance, and category profitability.
• Experience leading vendor consolidation or category rationalization initiatives across a large, fragmented vendor base.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence Operations, Finance, and clinical/practice leadership.
• Ability to operate effectively in a multi-site, decentralized purchasing organization and drive standardization across practices.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead a program and team from the ground up.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional initiatives.
