Discovery Specialist
The New York County District Attorney's Office has multiple openings for Discovery Specialists in its Case Management Services department (CMS). CMS is responsible for the operations, administrative, data entry, data, and discovery analysis for the entire office. CMS ensures and assists the practitioners of the office with the prosecution of crimes in Manhattan and beyond, including homicides, domestic violence, assaults, narcotics cases, as well as various misdemeanors and felonies. The department works with other criminal justice stakeholders, such as, but not limited to the NYPD, The Unified Court System of New York, Corporation Counsel, various non-profits, and others. In this position, the Discovery Specialist is responsible for providing highly skilled support to CMS and the office, as well as the CMS managers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Liaise between our office and the Grand Jury Wardens, Clerks Office, and Court Clerks.
- Utilize Court Event Entry program (CEE) to enter all Grand Jury (GJ) events, True Bill information, presentations, appearances, and indictment filing events.
- Request the Grand Jury minutes for all indicted cases.
- Request criminal court transfer requests for indicted cases pending in lower criminal court
- Create Supreme Court jackets.
- Preform end of term Grand Jury auditing.
- Enter and audit Supreme Court cases into the CEE program.
- Assist ADAs with Grand Jury related inquiries or requests
- File DANY indictments using E-Filing application
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Excellent organization, communication, time management, writing and creative problem-solving skills are essential.
- Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
- Ability to update and edit existing proprietary databases.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
- Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Literacy in computer applications, Microsoft Suite; Excel required; knowledge of SQL, CIS, and other City oriented systems.
- Proficiency in Internet search strategies and techniques.
- Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff, law enforcement representatives, and outside visitors.
- Perform all assignments in an accurate, professional, and expeditious manner.

- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
