Challenges and requirements:

Different types of user persona – too many to handle with AD Connectors

Many groups are independent and have their own specific security requirements to access internal and external resources. Group could consist of 5-10 workspaces

  • i.e. access some Citrix applications only
  • i.e. access RDP only
  • i.e. access some web dev or prod applications, or DropBox only

custom access level for different sets of FTE’s, different sets of vendors and contractors. Each group has different way to get in.

To align with that complexity, customer is also looking to maintain multiple workspace bundles, based upon user AWS Security group limitations – only one Security Group is allowed for AD Connector. Security Group is limited with 50 rules only. Although another Security Group could be added as a Source, the limitation still exists to address the customer needs. Customer is looking for an option to define custom Security Group per individual Workspace, not per AD Connector. This will give them the capability to secure each single workspace differently, based upon an individual user’s profile. For example, give a user to access just three internal applications and block everything else, including internet access.

Support of that infrastructure/configuration must be simple as support organization is fairly small

Customer is also looking to use Cloud Formation templates to enable Workspaces environments in other regions.
