Dozen Bakery is Hiring a Prep Cook (full-time)

We’re looking to add a prep cook to our crew. Prior culinary experience is a plus! Pay starts at $18.25 per hour, which includes a tip share; we will pay more for an experienced candidate. This position is responsible for preparing the various recipes for service in savory kitchen (salads, dressings, fillings, compound butters, prepping vegetables, fruits and meats) and also prepares items for our grab and go cooler (pot pies, pizza sauces, soups). Cross-training on cold station in the department is to be expected within 2 months of starting.

This position requires shifts that begin between 5-7AM. At least one weekend shift per week is required for full-time employment. This is a full-time position with 40 scheduled hours/5 shifts per week.

This position requires constant standing and frequent walking and bending, and the ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Basic math skills are required.

SAVORY TEAM MEMBER

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Savory Team Member is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating all items offered on the savory menu. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

PLANNING AND PRODUCTION

• Assists Department Manager with menu planning, research, and development.
• Efficiently and effectively prepares all items to meet production goals and/or line orders.
• Communicates any problems or needs regarding production, such as needed ingredients, special orders, etc. to the Savory Shift Leader or Savory Department Manager.

QUALITY

• Ensures the quality and consistency of all menu items prepared; communicates with the Savory Shift Leader or Savory Department Manager regarding any issues of quality with ingredients or finished product.
• Analyzes results (quality, efficiency, timeliness) in order to make improvements in overall personal performance.

TEAM

• Works with the rest of the savory team to complete daily production, ensuring that production goals are met and the department is well-prepared for the next day.
• Communicates with other savory team members during every shift, ensuring that all team members know their role for the day; takes over for others as breaks are needed.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all savory items in order to inform and educate customers and staff.
• Attends and contributes to periodic savory department meetings in order to provide new information, address any issues, and recognize the hard work of others in the department.
