Driver Operator
AI Summary
Operates Class 4 vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks for infrastructure projects across Otago, performing equipment setup, maintenance, drainage work and documentation alongside a crew.
About this role
DRIVE IT. OPERATE IT. GET STUCK IN.
At Intergroup, we keep New Zealand moving. As a leading industrial and infrastructure services business, we deliver the essential work that underpins our communities—maintaining critical assets, supporting industry, and ensuring the services people depend on run smoothly every day.
InterGroup is looking for an experienced Class 4 Driver / Operator to join our Dunedin Infrastructure team.
This isn't a role where you'll simply drive from A to B. You'll be behind the controls of vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks, operating specialist equipment, working alongside your crew and getting hands-on to get the job done.
Every day is different, with a variety of sites, projects and challenges across Otago region.
No experience with our specialist equipment? No problem. We'll provide training for the right person.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be involved in a wide range of infrastructure work, including:
Driving and operating Class 4 vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks
Operating vacuum, water blasting, suction and associated equipment
Catchpit cleaning and drainage maintenance
Hydro excavation and vacuum loading
Setting up and packing down equipment
Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks
Getting hands-on with manual work when required
Completing job records and documentation
Working closely with your crew to get the job done safely, efficiently and to a high standard
You'll work across different Otago sites, so if you enjoy variety, being outdoors and working with a great crew, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical and ready to get stuck in.
You'll need:
A full Class 4 NZ Driver Licence
Experience operating heavy vehicles
A good level of fitness and willingness to undertake physical work
A strong work ethic and reliable attitude
A willingness to learn and develop your skills
A commitment to health and safety
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with vacuum trucks, hydro excavation, catchpit cleaning, drainage or specialist equipment is an advantage, but it's not essential. If you've got the right attitude, we'll help you learn the rest.
Why InterGroup?
Get Your Hands on Specialist Equipment
You'll spend your days operating some of the industry's most specialised vehicles and equipment — not just sitting behind the wheel.
No Two Days Are the Same
From catchpit cleaning and hydro excavation to vacuum loading, you'll work across a variety of projects and sites throughout Auckland.
Join a Team That Gets Stuck In
You'll work alongside experienced operators and a team that values safety, teamwork and doing the job right.
Build Your Skills
Whether you're already an experienced specialist operator or looking to take the next step in your career, there's an opportunity to learn and develop with InterGroup.
Long-Term Opportunity
Join a well-established New Zealand infrastructure and industrial business with permanent, full-time work and opportunities to grow.
Ready to Get Stuck In?
If you're a Class 4 driver who wants more than just a driving job, we'd like to hear from you.
Bring your licence. Bring your work ethic. We'll provide the opportunity.
