· Must have a current NC Drivers License that is without restrictions related to traffic violations.
· Proficient in assisting with Lifts of wheel chairs and motorized chairs.
· Must be certified in CPR and First Aid, and maintain that certification.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
· Reports to RL Coordinator of Independent Residents
· Be scheduled for outings and activities through the RL Coordinator through a monthly calendar.
· Will attend required trainings and seminars at Deerfield when required
· Will report any problems with the vehicles to the appropriate staff.
· Will follow the procedures given to drivers before and after a trip.
· Will keep the RL Coordinator informed of any problems (with the vehicle, residents, etc.)
· Must always promote a positive customer service approach with each interaction, either with staff, residents, vendors, or families.
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
· Must be knowledgeable of the laws, regulations and guidelines governing the long-term care facility.
· Must possess ability and willingness to work harmoniously with all personnel.
· Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and complaint procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Must be able to drive safely, and follow all traffic rules and laws.
· Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
· Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
· Must be able to multitask and perform well under stress.
· Must be able to assist in emergency situations related to resident and staff safety in a designated capacity.
· Must be dependable.
· Must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist; lift 10 lbs waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs; and push/pull 40 lbs.
· Must be physically capable of hiking 3-5 hours with elevation changes and various trail conditions.
· Act as a sweep/co-guide on each hike to back up the Blue Ridge Hiking Company lead guide.
· In the event of an on-trail emergency, the co-guide will be asked to assist the BRHC guide in executing their emergency response plan.
· Will assist in guiding residents who may lag behind, need a rest, or walk slower on a hike.
· Should wear appropriate hiking attire and shoes.
· Help load and unload equipment as needed.
