The Drum Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Drums Department. The Drum Supervisor oversees the daily activity of the crew responsible for receiving and shipping of containerized waste.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages proper separation and decanting of the containers.
  • Ensures the safe operation of the forklift and vacuum truck, including loading and unloading.
  • Ensures employees handling the waste are following facility’s waste analysis plan setforth by the regulatory agencies and the company policy.
  • Works and interacts with other management/personnel group within the company that would include various representatives from operations, compliance and customer service departments.
  • Ensures defective equipment or tools are required to be red-tagged and reported for repair or replacement.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all drum handling duties and makes sure that each employee within the department is trained adequately to maintain the minimum job requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance within department.


Other Functions:

  • Manage loading & unloading of trucks using forklift, dolly or pallet jack.
  • Inspects each individual waste container upon arrival at the facility to make sure it meets Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Opens each container for sampling and inspection.
  • Interacts with customer service, compliance and laboratory departments in order to process the waste containers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes


Required Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of principles and facts related to the production, processing, storage, and distribution of manufactured and agricultural goods.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Developed capacities used to work with people to achieve goals.
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education beyond high school or equivalent in a related field preferred.
  • Previous supervisory work experience preferred.
